Watch these: ____________________________ Petition here: http://chng.it/4sYwXWDYBH Comment here: https://www.regulations.gov/comment?D=FTC-2019-0054-0001 Any videos containing the following are at risk, and creators of said content WILL be fined upwards of $42,000 PER video. When blacklisted as ‘for kids’, you as a creator will loose the end card, info card, comment section, and most importantly; ad revenue. Subject Matter: Kids’ jokes Kids’ music Kids’ games Video/Computer games Children’s tv shows or stars Cartoon characters Sports Stories Toys Children’s Books Fantasy Children’s arts and crafts Pets Snack Food/Cereal Presentation: Language like Cool, Duh, Games; essentially language that is understandable by kids. Animated characters Bold graphics Fast moving graphics Bright and Vibrant colors Young/Child models Simple Songs Popular Songs Cartoon Noises Child-like noises/sound effects What this all means? (Take it with a spoon full of salt) It means VOCALOID content is gonna be more difficult to view, and difficult to make. COPPA see anime-esque characters, animated videos, addictive music, etc., they see it as for Kids, artists, and gamers will loose any modicum of revenue. we all suffer, unless we act.
Here’s my comment: “I signed because; many content creators I subscribed to that cover games, toys, movies, cartoons, etc. in a colorful/wholesome manner are at risk. A entire industry is going to crash, and adults, children and parents that watch content by said content creators will both suffer. This all because of FTC’s views of YouTube/Video streaming content through the lens of COPPA, via the pleas of ignorant advocacy groups, founded by ignorant parents who don’t want to admit to said ignorance. If it isn’t addressed now, Kids will ONLY see adult content on the internet and no one will have little reason to make content for children. Make the parent aware of their child’s consumption of content, not label, and segregate said content with unrealistic penalties, and so little incentive.”
(Totally unrelated) PS: Joke aside, I see youtube differentiating anime and kids contents pretty well. This might change though (unlikely) and malicious flagging needs to be considered as well.
