Hi everyone, So the chance has finally come for me to enter in a real-life Project Diva F 2nd Tournament. I've always wanted to and I'm very excited! But it's my first time, so I'm also kind of nervous. I believe this tournament will be similar to the one that happened at Anime Expo in 2014, where two players played the same song at the same time and the person who gets the highest score wins. I wanted to ask if anyone had any tournament tips. Has anyone here had any experience with a Project Diva tournament? If so, what was it like? If not, what would you do if you were? Do you think I should stick with choosing the songs I do best (when it's my turn to pick), or go for the hardest songs and hope I'm better than my opponent? In case it matters for your advice, I'm a two-handed player and I can get Perfects on most extreme songs, Excellent on the remaining 4, and only Great on The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku. Any advice would be a big help. Thanks. :)
Never had a tournament, but if that is interesting for any pro then forget it until you can do all songs easily, If Packaged gets harder for you than Intense Voice and 2D dreamfever, than you are good enaugh If its about score then practice hitting notes on Cool and dont hold one side for same arrows in a row(cause of the +200 points) If its start early....i hope your opponent are not Pro's xD
Thank you! This is my first time hearing about the +200 points for not holding one side for the same arrows in a row, somehow! xD How did I not notice before while I was playing? lol Packaged is slowly becoming harder for me, it's like it's getting slower and slower, which is harder and harder. 2D Dream Fever is my favorite song to play! :D I've been playing since F 1st came out in Japan, so I wouldn't say I'm new to the game... But I also hope my opponents are not pro's! XD Thanks for your input, I'll practice really hard :)
From recent experience playing against many others around my skill level at a recent anime convention... picking the songs you're the best at may not be a good idea, since with the nervousness of being in a tournament and self-expectations on how well you should be playing it, performance can end up worse than usual. Leaving the songs that you are almost but not quite best at to be a better choice. That's just for me personally though, I wish you luck in figuring out what will work best for you. The best thing to do is practice and set up a ceremony to prevent pro opponents :D
Ahh yeah, I can only imagine how frustrating it'd be to NOT get a perfect when I purposely picked a song that I always get perfect on just because all eyes are on me... Maybe it would be good to pull together some friends and play in front of them, to practice that element! :D I'm also thinking about making a list of go-to songs, ones that I think I can win with (whether they're my best songs or not) to pull out on game day. What kind of offerings do you think the god of gaming would appreciate? Maybe a JPN PSN Card? I will ask them not to bring any super pros to the tournament lol! Thanks so much for your advice, I really appreciate it!!
