That's what I hope it means, too.
It's so hard trying to figure out how to unlock them though.
For instance there are character themed wall items that you get from making them upset and then making up with them. If I didn't figure that out on accident, well...

 

Maybe you need to clear all chance time in all song.

 

Here is how you do it, i think you had to place all the other 6 items first before unlocking のぼり (はちゅねミク)
then after buying that one, go change date to next day on your vita cause it wont unlock till next day, then visit Diva room.

Do same thing for のぼり(シテヤンヨ) unlocking のぼり(たこルカ) then unlocking のぼり(リンの幼虫).

There are headphone shaped posters with the vocaloids faces in the ... rounded part? That you get by doing this.
I can't describe that well so here's a screenshot:

You know how they get upset if you burst their heart too often and the diva room gets that purple tone and the smiley in the level gauge turns into a frowny face?
When that happens you make up with them by petting the back of their head juust right. As soon as you exit the petting mode you'll get the item unlocked message unless you've done the above steps and already have that poster.
It has to be done for each of them to get their poster.
I've heard that they'll become happy again if you leave them alone long enough too, but I don't know if the items would still be unlocked.

Do I make better sense now? I'm not very good at explaining ;_;...

I'm still glad I figured this out on accident.
It happens once, maybe its just a coincidence. It happens twice? "Let's try it out in the other rooms!"
