Would anyone mind sharing some their choice settings for this game? There is always some little alteration we all do to a game that can make or break how we play and I'd like see what others like to do and how they play. For me I like having the music at 100% and the Sound Effects at 80% For button sounds I'm using the 2nd option for the general buttons and the 1st for star notes. Personally I liked having the 1st star note sound as my default button sound in Project Diva 2nd but since there doesn't seem to be a way to swap it to the other side I'm still experimenting with the general button sounds. When watching a PV I prefer to have the subtitles off for some reason, although sometimes I leave them on. I don't use or buy accessories, I just don't like them. Thus far I've just matched the official module to the song as it's supposed to be with the exception of using another one for a PV I would like to see. Also I've had a very odd and somewhat unhealthy obsession of not quitting a song until I manage to get a perfect on it, I'll keep restarting it mid-song if I mess up over and over again. In fact a couple of nights ago I spent 2 hours on Cat Food Normal. I've stopped doing that because I wasn't having fun with the game and instead it was frustrating me.
I keep the music at 100% and the sound effects lower at about 70%. Button sound is 95% (I think) and scratch sound at the same or a bit higher (I have more difficulty hearing these than the normal buttons). I also changed the timing to 3 (I had it at 2 at first but realised I kept getting a lot more Fine's than I should). My default button sounds are 6 for the general buttons and 3 for scratch notes (I need to have a soft pleasant sound to not get distracted by it, I've grown more fond of 7 too but its sound is too faint to hear properly). When fooling around with easier songs I might switch it to something like 1 just to try out new stuff :P I'll also add that when playing on Normal I mostly use the Survivor challenge item to get extra points if I'm sure I won't miss a button badly. I don't watch PVs a lot but like to have the subtitles to follow along and practice my Japanese at the same time :P I also agree with you that I generally don't use accesories and for the most part use the proper module for songs (mostly because I'm too lazy to switch modules all the time) but I prefer using Rin, sometimes putting glasses on her to make her look more like me x) I'm also sorry to say Luka and Meiko usually end up unused the most though I discovered the awesomeness of using Kaito and Luka for Nettoge ^^ I like hats and wings too but don't like to make the characters too cluttered. I'm the opposite with songs, I can only play them once before switching song (or play it on a different difficulty if I really feel like listening to it again). I don't care much about perfecting songs and I'd only frustrate myself even more with all my 1 Safe's >.< I leave it up to luck I suppose, I learned from the PSP games that if I replay a song it will only turn out worse than before. Like you said what's most important is to have fun with the game and every Perfect is a joy ^^
I keep most of the sounds at the default sound levels.I usually have no regular note button sound and either the number 7 scratch sound or no sound scratch at all. (Although when I give the game to friends, as a joke I'll pick the most ridiculous sounds. xD) Whenever it's a song I know I can play easily, I usually have the Cool Master Challenge Item on (I was able to get excellent on Sadistic Music Factory with it and boy did I rack up dem points xD). I watch PVs all the freaking time xD I usually have subtitles on just cause, although I'll turn em' off when I try to take pictures. xD I usually don't use the proper modules for songs though, I like to mix things up (and use my bb and waifu, MEIKO and Haku xD). I use accessories a lot (bought them all finally OTL) and whether I put the most ridiculous things on modules in the most serious songs or something that actually fits, you'll see something on the module with me. (I'd really like it if Sega would have had some of the accessories that are parts of modules separate so I can put the Unhappy Refrain masks on anyone.) I usually just play a song that I feel like listening to. If I still wanna listen, I keep playing and racking points, if not, I'll move one. I'm a changey-changey person xD Sadly, I've only perfected two songs on extreme difficulty (WORLD'S END UMBRELLA and Eh? Ah, Sou.), and usually everytime I almost get a perfect, BAM! Safe... Spoiler WHY DO YOU HATE MEEEEEEE!!!
I know that feel, bro. I really should start taking pictures of all my 1 Safe's, just to show people I'm not kidding x) I have 5 Perfects on Extreme thus far and I'm quite proud of them, but I've been really close on many occasions :P I'm also jealous that you can play with Cool Master, I tried it once and failed miserably >.< Though Tokyo Teddybear was perhaps not the best choice of song...
Aw, that's cute, having Rin wear glasses to look like you. I usually tend to play songs on a loop if I really like them but you have a point, changing them up always makes things more interesting. Oh and getting one safe in a song is annoying enough but I like how they included an achievement for it, I was like "thanks for rubbing it in Sega!" I haven't used any challenge items yet, I'm trying to save my points for modules and such but I kind of want to dive into them when I get the moment because I was kind of feeling a bit evil last night. I even dipped into some extremes...Secret Police *shivers* On that note, I like to shut off the auto-save feature if I plan to experiment on a song or difficulty so that it doesn't effect my save *which it wouldn't but in my mind it does for some odd reason* I used to do was study the songs specific to the game, I'd spend time to find them on NicoNico Douga or Youtube and then download an MP3 of it to listen to and get used to the beat so that when I played I could go with the flow of the song. Although I'll admit I opted out of doing so with F...not the greatest idea >_< The only other thing I do is just use one analog stick, and one direction for the star notes. I know people like to do a swiping motion or use them both at the same time and I agree it might be quicker for some songs but I really have issues keeping both my hands in sync at the same time. Also I tend be really off with the timing on the star notes, it's kind of awkward to use the analog stick, I would have thought it better for Sega to assign them to the triggers.
For Sound Effects and Music, I'm leaning towards 100 SE and 50 Music volume levels. After hearing the sound effects without the music had me wondering, would it sound much clearer and better? And it did. The Unhappy Refrain explosion sounded exquisite and realistic without the music. Which means I'm going to have to turn up the volume! Also Note sounds are at 75 at the medium, unless I grow the habit of trying to lower another volume level. *laughs* Haha, I see we both share the same taste Darkside. There are plenty of modules that I dislike in this game, so I tend to stick with original Miku. Some of the other Vocaloids' modules seem to fit, likewise. There is only one exception of an accessory I would use, and it's Mikudayo!!! X3 Ohoho, I would say the same for myself. Even if I play on a song I previously perfected, I find myself doing this a lot. A WHOLE LOT. *cough*mysignature*cough* The same goes for me as well, I turned off the autosave feature on my first time playing the game. In fact, I did not save with the first miss-take title, in which I stake my pride in not having... Which my first miss-take was ODDS&ENDS hard on the first swipe notes with cool master.... Swipe stars are dirty little buggers... Wow, I'm surprised we have a lot in common Darkside. Sadly I would have had more time in "trying" to Platinum the game. :<
No button or scratch sounds. Ever. I turn 'em off in every Project DIVA and I did in Megpoid the Music#, too.
I don't have any specific preferences really except I turn on 3D for the PVs because it makes them just that much better While gaming I just prefer to use my PS3 Headset because it completely blanks out the outside world (including my phone which can be such a distraction at times) and turn it up loud. I'm nowhere near the level of most players here so I'm just all perfects for Easy, all E for Normal and Hard (a few perfects) and I'm working on all G for Extreme right now...I'll get there eventually. I can't wait until I get the mini PDF controller but that will be in 2 weeks time. Also almost always use the osusume set while playing/watching PVs.
