July was a big month for gaming as a whole and for all of us on ProjectDIVA.net, it’s worth a whole thread: Since many of you are probably considering picking up a Nintendo Switch after Project DIVA was announced to be coming to it, here is the general Nintendo-related headlines, alongside hyperlinks to articles (and US product pages if you want games, and live in the US) July 1st: Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MEGA 39’s was revealed: At the SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU: 10th Anniversary celebration @ Joypolis (on July 2nd in Japan anyways) ; as hinted by insider Wataru Sasaki; something was going to be announced, as hinted by Jrharbort of sister site MikuFan.com; it was a matter of time until the series would be unshackled from PlayStation-exclusivity, as speculated by me; (obviously) it was most likely gonna be on Nintendo Switch. That happened it did, coming early 2020 for Japan, and probably in August elsewhere. (as required by Product Law #39) July 5th: Shigeru Miyamoto talks “The Next Controller” amongst other news regarding Nintendo Switch Online’s userbase July 7th: Super Nintendo World leaked once again: To get you up to speed, more information was leaked for the “Super Nintendo World” expansion of the Universal Studios theme parks, that had been in development since 2015. The expansion in Orlando in particular was to replace “Woody Woodpecker’s Kidzone” (that outdated section including “Barney” and “An American Tail” of all things) but has been moved into the yet-to-be-developed land expansion referred to as “the third gate” with an ambition equal to “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter”. The leak in question is about the overall scope, including a once-planned section themed to Donkey Kong. July 9th: Dr. Mario World launches for iOS and Android. July 10th: Highly rumored Nintendo Switch Lite revealed for 9/20 launch: Smaller, limited, has an additional 30 minutes of battery, has a + Control Pad (D-Pad), most of all; $100 CHEAPER. Enough to persuade me? NO. July 12th: Dragon Quest Builders 2 released. July 16th: Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD revealed: Before you say anything; we could of got “Super Monkey Ball: Adventure HD” instead. As of now; it’s just 70% complete, and set for an 10/29 release date for PS4 and Xbox One as well; tough luck for PC gamers with that tentative “Winter 2019” window. July 17th: Quintuple Chaos: Luigi’s Mansion 3 is (fittingly) set for a Halloween launch on 10/31. A Nintendo Switch Model HAC-001(-01) revision announced to roll out the middle of next month; alongside red packaging, it comes with an improved 4.5 to 9 hours battery life giving you 2.5 hours more of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. (and maybe stop all the cracking and bending the system can gain through prolonged use) New Joy-Con were also announced; Blue + Neon Yellow, and Neon Purple + Neon Orange (aka; Waluigi/Nintendo GameCube, two overrated things on this planet) Donkey Kong 3 & Wrecking Crew are added to Nintendo Entertainment System: Nintendo Switch Online alongside a new Rewind feature. July 18th: MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order released. July 21st: 72-hour Splatoon 2 Final Fest: Splatocalypse concludes: Chaos winning over Order (the side I chose) and finally ends the promised 2 years of SplatFests for Splatoon 2. July 19th - 23rd: Joy-Con Drift hysteria: A common problem with Joy-Con has been analog drift as a result of dust and dissolved contacts through prolonged use. It started with the Nintendo Switch subreddit, and got blown up to the point that law firm Chimicles, Shwartz, Kriner & Donaldson-Smith has threatened to sue Nintendo. They released a non-statement, and now Joy-Con controllers will be repaired for free regardless. July 23rd: Super Mario Maker 2 max course upload updated from 32 to 64. More on the way! (I haven’t even uploaded one level. I hope ‘u’ folks will enjoy it once it’s ready) July 26th: Quintuple Trouble #2: Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Super Smash Bros. Series: Pichu, Pokémon Trainer, and Isabelle amiibo, (“Each will come in a yellowish package” - Super Smash Bros. series director: Masahiro Sakurai) alongside surprise announcements DOOM 1993, DOOM II (Classic), & DOOM 3 release. July 27: Fire Emblem: Three Houses voice actor Chris Niosi is confirmed to be replaced by Zach Agulair after many alligations. (coming via patch) July 30th: Triple Trouble: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Challenger Pack 2 and 4.0.0 update releases, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker becomes compatible with Nintendo Labo: Toy-Con 04: VR Kit, and the Xbox-owned Obsidian developed The Outer Worlds is revealed for release on Nintendo Switch after release on other platforms July 31st: the Nintendo Switch Online “Game Vouchers” Special Offer will be discontinued. (Game Vouchers can still be used a year after purchase)
