Character names (Final Fantasy ect.)

I was playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced earlier and got to thinking about something that I don't feel I've ever really put much thought into before. Do other people name their characters something beyond the defaults? If the game allows it, I usually change their names to something else unless it's already a really good fit. I don't know, I feel like it adds to my adventure if it's a character I can remember. It doesn't have the just be FF games, that just happen to be what I was playing at the moment because I needed an escape. It's a stupid question. Sorry, my mind isn't too great right now.
