In this age of gaming we have a great amount of variety, I recently watched a video where the producer brought up an interesting point that I'm not too sure I agree on. Should there be a standard that all games must be muli-platform? In other words every game can be played on any console or computing system for everyone no matter what they utilize? Personally I don't agree and find a good amount of charm for having console exclusives, granted they seem to be a dying breed by today's standards and the ones that are around usually are in the form of mobile games. I feel like if it's done in the right way, exclusives make the console or system unique and appeal far more engaging thus helping to boost sales. However on the other hand, more variation boosts sales as well I suppose. I feel like you build more connection with a game and it's outlet if it's an exclusive, sort of like a reward for getting the machine in the first place. I'm not close-minded to expanding upon a gamers experience and do agree that having more variety keeps the industry alive and the player happy. Life is about moving forward and exploring new ventures, staying stuck in the past and refusing to move on will result in nothing but idle progression. The same applies to the gaming world as well. I also know that exclusivity makes it difficult in the social aspect of gaming. The people you know may not have the console or system, also performance preferences companies set in place can make cross-platforming limited so in that case having the same game on every outlet would let everyone enjoy the entertainment in their own personal preferable way. Despite my own personal feelings, I do appreciate the idea of a universal gaming world where everyone can enjoy what they like on whatever they are most comfortable with. Well enough of my conflicted babble, I am interested in knowing what your collective input is on this. Do you think exclusivity is something that is extinct at this point and what is your opinion on the idea of a universal gaming world?
