Huh, the smaller one looks actually bigger than what I would have thought it would be. Then again that could all be in perspective based on that image.

Interesting, thanks for the information Infinity-happy end. I was pondering something while working out in the yard this afternoon about the controllers, will they work for the predecessor Dreamy Theatre games? Technically your just hooking up a controller to the Playstation 3's input like any other. The only thing added for these particular models is either a touch pad or a pair of analog sticks which I theorize wouldn't matter too much in terms of the system reading the hardware. Unless there is something written into the programming of the controllers that tells the system to only allow it to be utilized with Diva F and no other game. Any idea if this is the case or do you think it should work like I theorize?

So, will the new controllers will work with the old Dreamy theater ? I think it will, there are all the buttons that are on the first controller
    [IMG][IMG]

I think the answer is in the description, here is what google translated :

    ※ 本品はPlayStation®3用のコントローラとして「初音ミク -Project DIVA- F」以外のゲームにもご使用いただけます。
(弊社にて「初音ミク -Project DIVA- ドリーミーシアター」「初音ミク -Project DIVA- ドリーミーシアター 2nd」でも動作確認をしています。)

※ This product can also be used in non-game "Hatsune Miku-Project DIVA-F" as the controller for the PlayStation ® 3.
(Has been tested to work even Miku-Project DIVA-Dreamy Theater 2nd "Hatsune" "Miku Hatsune-Project DIVA-Dreamy Theater" at us.)

I know google translate is not perfect but i think it's the answer you were looking after ? You can play the two first dreamy theater (why didn't they talked about dreamy theater extend ? it's the same gameplay, no ?)

Indeed that does answer my question in great detail, thank you infinity once again. This information most likely applies to the smaller controller as well. I do not currently own any of the Theatre games and as I have stated before I am currently saving for the system itself. So in the long run being able to use one controller for all the games would be apt instead of having to spend money on a controller for each game specifically. That is a little strange that they wouldn't include Extend Theatre in the description, the only thing I could think of is that there may be an issue with the game where the input for a controller is not programmed to register it? Perhaps a bug or something for a future update patch? Either that or they just assumed that you'd use it for the game without even thinking about it.

Will the smaller controller still allow you to have a arcade type feel or is it basically just a glorified dual shock controller?

Thanks for the tips infinity-happy end-. Contacted mbttoys.com and just got a return message. Sadly, HORI's preorders are completely sold out. So at the moment, the only way to order the large controller is from Play-Asia.... Ah, not sure what to do. Look around more and risk not getting a preorder there, or just take the bullet and preorder at that price..... aaaah.....

Well, from this image, you can see a dualshock (well, part of one) in the bottom center of the picture. Looks like the small diva controller will replicate the arcade expiriance a bit as it is larger than a normal controller by quite a bit still, but it is still only half the size of the large diva controller.

Beware with Play-asia, everytime they cancelled pre-orders with limited editions to put a higher price and they said "hoo, we are sorry, but our usual suppliers were not able to give us all the items, we were forced to buy them at another retailer and the price is higher, do you still want this ?".

They did it with all the PSvita limited Miku edition, with the first "Project Diva Dreamy Theater 2nd Controller" 100$ more, with the PSvita and The japanese 3DS

Alright, put my order through AmiAmi for the small one. Don't know if I'll be pulling my hair out tomorrow morning or not but for now I'm at a little bit of peace. Additionally this is my first order with them as well, never even knew about that site until this forum so thanks once again to ProjectDiva.net for improving my life a little more.

AmiAmi is great. I use them for 80-90% of my figure needs (which sadly comes to like $500-1000 dollars a month.... man, I really should cut back). They're very timely and helpful. I sent them an e-mail asking about the large controller. They replied the next day (yay fast), but with sad news that the large controller was a HORI site exclusive item and that was the reason they did not have it on their site.

Personally, definitly getting the game from AmiAmi as I already have some figures pre-ordered for that month, so I'll just combine my order with those to get them shipped. Having trouble making the decision on whether to pre-order the small controller as well. As much as I'd like it, if I do pre-order the Large controller, that's $550 from Play-Asia... adding another hundred on top of that for a second controller, when the game only uses one is really hard to justify, even as a collector. If I don't pre-order the large controller, I'm definitely getting the small one from AmiAmi though.

    ...aah decisions... Any thoughts?

You could cut back a bit but then again if you have the resources available then who am I to tell you to set a limit. At then end of the day it all depends on what you want to do really. If you have the money to freely spend and have no issue spending it within your budget then all you need to evaluate is the utility of the items your thinking of purchasing. Like you said, the game only uses one controller at a time and there isn't a multi-player feature as far as I know so having both seems a bit excessive. Given the options of either one, which is more reasonable for you to own? In other words which is more preferable to you and how often do you want to use it? Personally I don't use Play-Asia unless I have to, I've never had much good experience with them as far as pricing and shipping is concerned however that's not to say that is the case for everyone.

Ha, the silly notion of having the money or being reasonable when it comes to these things =^.^=

While I never borrow money, with the amount I spend, I've got nothing left. I really should learn some restraint so that I have some in case of an emergency. But I do love to collect things and I do love Miku. I'll want one or the other... maybe I'll wait a few more days to make my decision, if pre-orders are sold out at Play-Asia on the large controllers by then, then ah well, mini it is. If not, I'll have to decide...

Eh, I don't blame you. Personally I'd love to be able to get both but the cash was just not there so I went with the small one to fit with my plans. Taking some time to work these things out is always best in the long run.

Well, as of Thursday, the 29th, looks like Play-Asia has sold out of its pre-orders on the Large Controller. Guess that decision is decided for me then, unless I can find it from another source (or if one of you see it sold another place, that'd be wonderous).

AmiAmi has added a pre-order bonus rubber Miku keychain for anyone who pre-ordered the game or will pre-order the game.

Looks like both AmiAmi and Play-Asia are still taking reserves on the small controller.

So....I might have taken things a bit overboard on my end but I decided to order a couple of more things from AmiAmi over the last couple of days along with Diva F this afternoon. So let's see: The small controller, Diva F, the SAO PSP game and a figurine of Jehuty.

Here are the last two items in case someone would like to see what they are.

    [Sword Art Online -Infinity Moment-]
    http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail ... G-PSP-3124

    [Revoltech Yamaguchi No.127 Naked Jehuty]
    http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail ... Y-RBT-2869

So....yeah....in the end, it's going to be almost $300....but still I can make that work....I hope.
    - - - -

    [Edit] November 29 2012

I can make it work! I just counted up all the change we had in the house after staying up wrapping the coins last night and it's about $330.26! Of course the thing that makes me a little conflicted is asking myself how much was spent in the year to even mass this amount of change....so in the long run, what exactly am I getting back?

A big up for this topic :

For those who really, really, really want/need/must have the BIG controller, you can find now TWO on the yahoo auctions

With the buy it now option: 39,980 ¥ and 39,800 ¥, yes, it's more than the first price ¥ 33,900, and the shipping cost will cost you an arm or two :/

Remember that the release date is still 2013/03/07, these sellers are only taking the money for something they don't have yet, scalpers !!

This is only for the winners of a national lottery.

EDIT : one more but the price :(

Well it would blow through half of my pay to get it now, I think I'll leave it as a goal for the future. It's more important to pay the bills where you live lol, there will be other auctions hopefully.

Didn't think I would have much of a chance at scoring myself any of these controllers after becoming interested in the game only a few weeks ago, but by some miraculous chance, there was still an available slot for the Full-Sized Arcade controller on Play-Asia; perhaps someone cancelled their pre-order? It's quite interesting to see the pre-order availability of these two items constantly change on a day-to-day basis; one day the Mini-Controllers are all gone, and the next they're open for pre-order again. :S

Before anyone asks why I would spend such a ludicrous amount of money on the controller; it's still far cheaper than buying the arcade machine outright, which was my initial plan before discovering that it was practically impossible to do so. Besides, nothing beats playing a game the way it was meant to be played, whether that means using CRT monitors or digital micro-switch joysticks. ^_^
