After almost a year of rumors, & a series of scarily on-the-nose Leaks, Nintendo finally revealed the hot new sequel to the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch 2.

All I can parse from this is the notably larger, system with an additional USB-C port along the top of the device, the rail system giving way for a Magnetic attachment system for notably larger Joy-Con controllers with protruding SL/SR buttons, with the Joy-Con (R) in particular containing a additional face button, in addition to footage of a stylized, 24-player Mario Kart game.

A bespoke Nintendo Direct presentation is dated 4.2.2025, no news on Price. & it’s guaranteed the release should be around Spring to Summer of this year. (as long as the world doesn’t go to pot that is)

The core takeaway for ProjectDIVA.net users specifically, and something Nintendo saved at the very end is Backwards Compatibility with MOST of the Nintendo Switch library, both physically & digitally: naturally; meaning Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MegaMix (as well as Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble for the maniacs that have the Hatsune Miku DLC) should be playable on the new system.

IF A New Project DIVA or even my dream of a Sonic The Hedgehog - Hatsune Miku Crossover game does come; expect it to come to Switch 2.

I think the backwards compatible disclaimer is more for games that use specialised hardware like the Ring Fit which attached to the old style joycons, theres probably other games with simlar requirements where the accessory is desiged for the older consoles shape more so than the ability to load the game.
