As per usual with a successful niche-Japanese-centric game, it was a matter of time before it hit western shores. While I was minding my own business on Twitter: Then to notice a tweet by TrackerTD (as in Sonic Mania & Hatsune Miku Mod TrackerTD) reacting to this: yes, it’s coming to the west. Albeit; with a tentative 2021 release date. https://www.colorfulstage.com/ On a standalone note: here’s a message from the devs:
Good, but I'm not sure I'll play this game anymore. That was my first and last game that I played on phone ever.
Finally an English release! Not sure why they took out the Project Sekai subtitle (is that the right word for it?) but I'm still excited.
Naming must be simple as possible. Who knows project sekai? Maybe noone, because no project sekai games was on west before, so better something like this. And "Colorful Stage" can be simple translation of "Project Sekai" for west :)
That's normal for some cases. But in other cases, correct naming can be very critical, just like it was with Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan and Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin that was the part of Yakuza series but it was totally wrong because that games was not about Yakuza totally and if it originally was called Like a Dragon on the West - there was no problem with those games and maybe they were released in this case, but western name Yakuza killed western release of those games and only name. So it's very important.
My guess is they are trying to avoid trademark issues with Sekai Project? (but otoh Steam Deck is a thing and elgato doesn't care so idk)
It can be, but as far as I can see - there are no problems to fix it, because it's already used by them. As I understand, that simply "Project sekai" is not sounds in pronunciation that good as needed and all naming is too long, and after deleting it from naming - everything seems to look and sound much better.
