If it's not clear from my signature, I enjoy these games but more as a guilty pleasure lol. For those unaware, the series is about the gaming industry... sorta. You take control of a Goddess (also known as a CPU) called Neptune (named after a cancelled SEGA console) or in the sequel her sister Nepgear (named after the Game Gear), as they travel the world of Gamindustri in order to save it from the evil Arfoire (who promote piracy) though turn-based combat dungeons. Along the way you meet characters based of other companies such as Compa (Compile Heart), IF (Idea Factory), Gust, Nisa, 5pb & other rival Goddesses based on the major companies (Nintendo, Sony & Microsoft). Now, the games don't have the biggest production teams (even though many companies are in fact attached to the series lol) so many people do just call them badly designed & is one of those types of games just for a certain audience. While I can see all their problems (though 2 was an HUGE improvement), I can't help but sit back & enjoy the stupidity and with a 3rd game on the way I'll be enjoying these for a while ;D So, I'm just wondering if anyone else has played the games & if so what did you think? Spoiler
This just happens to be my favorite series on ps3 after the 2nd i started wondering what neptune stood for(system wise) and you answered my question ^.^
The first one was pretty fun, it had some problems but it didn't deserve all these bad reviews. I bought Mk2, I'm waiting to finish Atelier Totori to start it but everyone speaks well about it.
The second one feels almost like a completely different game, in a good way. It stills has a few issues, but thankfully the good outweighs the bad. It took me a while to adjust to the new battle system (I started it right after beating the first one) but it is a lot more active & enjoyable, plus the simple fact that you can now heal in battle should be a good sign lol. Some artwork of the characters new looks have just recently appeared online & I really like them, especially Blanc's new HDD form which makes her look like a Famicom lol. http://gamindustri.wikispaces.com/MK3+Characters (Click the character, then scroll down to see their V costumes)
I enjoyed the first two games but the game was short, simple and the battles didn't had a good gameplay.
Really? I got plenty of time out of both. No less than any other modern RPG, really. I played everything through to the plat, though. I did a NG+ in both games, though. It took somewhere around 5-6 hours for the first one skipping all cutscenes and probably about the same for the second (though I forget exactly), so throwing in cutscenes and side content and having to level from scratch for the first game really pads that out. I never felt like it was short. The first game had some gameplay issues, sure, but I thought it was good in the second, if a bit repetitive.
