Apparently not all the songs are going to be translated. http://blogs.sega.com/2014/07/03/englis ... more-19715 Confirmed translated songs are: Melt, Decorator, Meteor, World is Mine, Doubleganger (Genga Spoofing) and Packaged. https://www.flickr.com/photos/segaameri ... 560153721/
Huh, this is a nice addition. People are gonna be really creeped out by the Happiness and Piece of Mind Committee though...
Dangit, now I'm disappointed due to the fact its going to be inconsistent. Well at least it's something...
Sounds really great that song translation is happening at all this time! I'm curious to see how the translations come out.
I think I know why all songs are not going to have them. I THINK. 1) Some songs have creepy and questionable lyrics. 2) Some are very vague. 3) Not all producers want their songs translated. That's my assumption for now. But I'm not holding my breath.
I don't think this would be one of the reasons. The game's already rated C/T/Any other rating equivalent so creepiness would never be a factor. People our age play it in Japan, plus, the only "creepy" song I can think of in PDF2 is "This is the Happiness POMC," but this isn't really that bad. I think a better phrase would be "some are hard to translate" as some words in some songs don't really have an equivalent and one word English meaning. If something was vague, they'd keep it vague in the translation. Unlikely but possible. I can't really imagine a conversation like "Hey, can we translate your song lyrics for English subtitles so players can understand it?" "No." I can only see this one if the translation team and the writer can't find a good way to translate the song so they give up and just keep it the way it is. I think really the only reason some songs won't be translated is because it's hard to actually translate without changing the meaning a bit and maybe licensing issues. Songs like Melt and World is Mine have pretty clear and understandable lyrics compared to TITHAPOMC and Knife which have deeper and interchangeable meanings.
I sincerely doubt that they would skip over lyrics because "they're creepy" or "Questionable". If that's the case, ESRB would have to reclassify what's considered T. ESRB gave the similar reasons for F even with lyrics not translated they like Luka's comment about Rin's chest size in Rin-Chan Now! as a factor for the T rating. Anyways, Sega updated their Flickr album. https://www.flickr.com/photos/segaameri ... 875896704/ Akatsuki Arrival is translated just as Akatsuki Arrival Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru is still translated as I'll Miku Miku You (For Reals) from F SPiCa and Clover Club are translated as is since there's no reason to translate them as anything else. Live Studio confirmed for English translations because Tokyo Teddy Bear has English subtitles below.
