Project Diva Extend seems to be classified as an 'expansion pack', is this right? I'm just wondering if this is basically the first Project Diva with added stuff, or if I'd benefit from playing both this and the original game?
Well from what I know, some of the first game's songs are in 2nd. I would assume they carried over to Extend but to be honest I cannot really speak for it because I do not own that game specifically. You would have to ask a member like Almeria to get a more detailed response on the matter but I hope that does help you out a little.
Project Diva (1) is completely different from 2nd or Extend. 2nd and Extend have a bunch more to offer but of course it would be nice to have all 3 games to play! Extend is the extension of 2nd so if you try to decide between those two, it's a matter of personal preference with the songs, Extend, however, has more modules (all the ones from both 1,2, and the DLCs, not including Teto).
It has a number of songs from the first and second games (including a lot of songs that used to be DLC) as well plenty of completely new songs. It's basically Project DIVA 3rd.
Go for the Extend version if you want more modules and upbeating songs. (Miku no Shoushitsu & Gekishou are both in Extend!)
Also in extend you can play edit datas for it and 2nd. Some of the first games songs are in it with modified note charts because the first game doesn't have Extreme, double notes, or hold notes. Some of the songs from 2nd are in it and are exactly the same. If I recall correctly the reason why it called Extend is because most songs are either from a previous game or were DLC and I think it was only six that were totally new.. Personally I never bought the DLC so quite a few songs were new to me. Choosing a project diva game is really a matter of which song list you like the most.
Get Project Diva 2nd if you want the English translation of menus. Otherwise, get Project Diva Extend.
i bought the original, 2nd and extend ... but i don't have a psp lol i think extend is an expansion but i can't verify if it requires 2nd to play or not (since i don't have the psp to test) it does come with regular UMD though
PjD Extend is a stand-alone game. Unlike the 2nd game (which had a handful of songs from the first one), nearly all of the songs in Extend are new songs. Some of them are songs from the first game (e.g. Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu) that were re-made to have a 3D PV.
well i got my psp and tried out all 3 i'd definitely say get all 3 if you can if not just get 2nd or extend, they have more features for playing(like arrows and the long hold notes) and like sp193 said, extend is playable without the 2nd there is a huge gap between original and 2nd though original is very simple i think original was more of like a pilot game to see people's reaction
